In the United States

The Pallottine Missionary Sisters minister in three states: Missouri, West Virginia and Maryland.  In each of these states our apostolates and ministries vary.

Florissant, Missouri is the locale for the provincialate (headquarters), novitiate and retreat house.  When a sister in formation enters the novitiate she is stationed in Florissant for at least one year. She is educated in the history of religious life and of the congregation, the charism and life of St. Vincent Pallotti, Our Way of Life, the vows, prayer and she will participate in an internovitiate program with other area novices.  Florissant is our official headquarters for the U.S. and where our provincial lives.  Finally, this is the home of the Pallottine Renewal Center, a retreat house serving the St. Louis area. 

Huntington and Buckhannon, WV is the location for a couple of the earliest apostolates. The main area of ministry here has been health care.  In Huntington, St. Mary’s Medical Center was opened in 1924. Today it is a 393 bed hospital serving a tri-state area.  Associated with the hospital is a school of nursing and it is known for several centers of excellence:  heart, cancer, pulmonary, joint replacement and neurology.  St. Joseph’s Hospital opened in 1921 in Buckhannon.  The medical staff and support personnel strive to be the best small town hospital in the state.  It has received the award for the best nursing care facility in West Virginia for the second year in a row.

Laurel, Maryland is the home of St. Vincent Pallotti High School. We offer an excellent academic and Catholic education in Prince George’s County.  Recently, Pallotti High won the 2011 Bowie Blade Readers Choice as best private school.  The staff and faculty are dedicated to emphasizing and demonstrating Christian values and incorporating the charism of St. Vincent Pallotti in the classroom environment.

Our Internationality

Internationally, we are in 17 additional countries: Belize, Brazil, England, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, India, Rwanda, Congo, Tanzania, Camaroon and South Africa.  Our generalate, or headquarters, is located in Rome, Italy.

The General Superior, Sr. Izabella, and her council try to find ways to bridge the gap between our cultures and to create an understanding of our differences and likenesses. While the international meetings would be easier to have in Rome, the general council prefers to have individual provinces host these meetings when possible as a way of sharing our cultures and charism.

The sisters at the generalate also sponsor a Pallottine Spirituality course during the summer that allows sisters from the different provinces to come together to learn about our Pallottine history and share their particular experiences of religious life.  Despite the distance between the provinces and the obvious language barrier, we feel very united in our mission thanks to our shared charism that St. Vincent Pallotti gave us.
